Viltrox plans to release two new conversion lenses for Fujifilm X100-series cameras. Little is publicly known beyond teaser images posted on Viltrox’s official Weibo page, but early visuals suggest these new lenses are nearly identical in design to Fujifilm’s TCL-X100 II telephoto conversion and WCL-X100 II wide-angle conversion.
The TCL-X100 II increases the focal length by 1.4x, transforming the X100’s native 35mm-equivalent field of view to 50mm-equivalent, while the WCL-X100 II broadens the perspective to 28mm-equivalent with a 0.8x magnification.
Both of Fujifilm’s converters are well regarded, yet they carry relatively steep price tags around $400. Viltrox’s counterparts are expected to offer the same focal-length changes at a noticeably lower price. Based on past performance with Viltrox lenses, optical quality is anticipated to be strong.
The official launch is scheduled for December 10, at which point full specifications, pricing, and availability should be announced. In the meantime, the Fujifilm converters’ specs provide a useful reference point, and the Viltrox versions are likely to share many similarities.
