A truck driver was found dead inside his cab along the Kisumu-Kericho highway in Kapsoit, and authorities are investigating the incident. The deceased, identified as 44-year-old Kimanzi Mulonzya, had delivered raw cooking oil to Uganda and was en route back to Nairobi when he parked his trailer near Medhill Health Centre around 9 a.m. on December 12, 2025. Locals first noticed something was amiss the following day, Saturday, after not seeing the driver exit the vehicle. Police arrived at the scene and found Mulonzya slumped in the driver’s seat with his body shifted toward the back bed of the cabin.
Initial scene processing revealed assorted medications used to manage ulcers within the truck, and a bucket containing sputum was discovered in the cabin. The trucking company was contacted to assist with processing as the body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy. The driver was alone at the time.
In a separate incident in Sondu, Kericho County, a 15-year-old boy drowned while swimming at the Miriu River on Friday evening. The boy, who was with friends, disappeared underwater and his body was recovered hours later. After realizing the danger, his friends rushed home to seek help to retrieve him from the water. The body was taken to the mortuary for further procedures, according to police.
In Nairobi’s Kibera slums, 45-year-old Fred Omollo was found dead in his bed. Police are working to determine the cause of death. A friend discovered him motionless on Saturday morning as they were heading to the place where they had been working together. The body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy to establish the cause of death.
In West Pokot’s Marich area, a 38-year-old man died following an assault during a confrontation linked to a circumcision event. The victim sustained injuries from sticks and died at the scene. His body was transported to the mortuary as investigations continue, with police treating the death as a murder case. The assailants fled the scene after learning of the fatality, and authorities stated they are pursuing them on Sunday.
